Hi Lisa, you are using Regular food which is free so toss it and put out bird mix.  Ducks help build nests.  You can plant a Pink Cap Mushroom to attract Griffins and Pheonix when Fully Grown which also help build nests even though the adults do not nest or make chicks.   Bellis Lycaena when Ready For Harvest will attract Chaffinch, Yellow Wagtails and Wrens.

If you have never built a nest before, there used to be a link on the News page to get a free nest.  But I looked and couldn't find it.  You could try posting in the Forums and ask if anyone knows if you can still get your first nest free.  It will already be completed and ready to use.

Or you will need to ask a friend to send you a Nest or you will need to buy one from the "Send a Limited Gift" link under your garden.  Then every first bird you attract in your garden will add twigs to the nest, or every 5th bird you attract will add twigs to the nest.  You need to attract 5 different birds to add to the nest.  Cuckoos are the only bird which will not add to a nest but will nest in one built by other birds.

To build an Undestructable nest (as I have in my garden), you need to attract hummingbirds to build it.  Again, it is the first or fifth hummer that will add to the nest and must be 5 different humming birds.  Other birds can add to the nest.  You can "bump" them off after the nest is completed by using the nest for Easter Eggs (5 uses and one non-hummer will be dropped from the nest).  You will want to deter Macaws and use Supershrooms while building a humming
