I'm so sorry to read about your brother's stroke Carmen and yes, it does go some way to explaining his behaviour around his care. I didn't mention it yesterday as I didn't want to upset you but my nana only went into the care home because she was "sectioned" under the Mental Health Act (this had to be agreed by a nurse professional or social worker and two doctors) as it was deemed she was a risk to herself. She was taken to hospital first and then to a care home. Luckily for us, although heartbreaking too, she thought she was on a holiday and staying at a hotel! Mum had a Power of Attorney but it was pretty much useless and only allowed mum to petition the courts for money when my nana needed clothes or toiletteries or to have her hair done. I know how difficult the situation is that you're in, how frustrating and upsetting and I hope that, between you all, you'll be able to help your brother do the right thing. Big, big hugs Carmen xx xx
