Lockdown was an extreme and unprecedented response to an ancient problem, the challenge of epidemic disease. It was also something else. It marked one of the gravest governmental failures of modern times. In a remarkably candid interview with The Spectator, Rishi Sunak has blown the gaff on the sheer superficiality of the decision-making process of which he was himself part. The fundamental rule of good government is not to make radical decisions without understanding the likely consequences. It seems obvious. Yet it is at that most basic level that the Johnson government failed. The tragedy is that this is only now being acknowledged.

Sunak makes three main points. First, the scientific advice was more equivocal and inconsistent than the government let on. Some of it was based on questionable premises that were never properly scrutinised. Some of it fell apart as soon it was challenged from outside the groupthink of the Sage advisory body. Second, to build support, the government stoked fear, embarking on a manipulative advertising campaign and endorsing extravagant graphics pointing to an uncontrolled rise in mortality if we were not locked down. Third, the government no

Hi my darling.  I just jumped on here so I could say hello before getting to bed. I keep staying up so late...it is like an addiction.  Oh no, I am so sorry he had to cancel the dentist for his car. Please let him know i totally sympathize.  I also still have the other eye surgery looming and next week I get my taxes done. praying I dont have to pay but they did not take out extra with holding even tho on the pay stubs it said they were.  so, here i am. and tonight, my large tv in the living room just died.  I can get the zoon box on but no volume control so I just pulled the plug cuz I cant even turn it off. Fortunate to have one in the bedroom but it will just have to wait til I get past all the drs and dentists and what nots...I have a feeling this a going to be a year of challenges...so am gonna go to sleep and not bore you with my whining. LOL  It is warmer here now and was sobeautiful today. 70 degrees with no humidity...just perfect  if only it would stay this way. I had to throw out some plants as the freezing we had flat out killed some but a few are ok. I'm glad you are enjoying Clementine. I may buy a robotic dog..haha seriouslythey follow commands and run around like it

Hi my darling friend....I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your x. with anyone that we share a history with, when they pass, it feels like a piece of us has died as well.  I was married two times...the first was my high school/college sweetheart...the second was a massive mistake but I worry about my first one...such a dear man..we grew apart, or I should say I did..so young..I was 20 when we were married.  He remarried and has a son who is a nightmare as he has gotten in trouble with the law..mostly drugs...we stayed in touch over the years as we were great friends as well but now we dont as I was living in LA and would fly in each year for Christmas and he would come over to visit at my parents' home..they absolutely loved him..I was the bad girl but I warned him for a year before I applied for a divorce, that I was losing my feelings...we were living in Alaska and he was dealing with his own issues being in the military for 2 years to get it over with as it was the end of the VietNam war and they were threatening draft with no choice if he didnt do a 2 year term..a long story..he lives around 15 miles from me, married with grandchildren now...I would be heartbroken if an
