We're not altogether sure what's happened to Tank. My niece says at the weekend she noticed he had a 'chunk' out of his leg. The vet surgery is next door to where she lives, so as she works on a Monday her sister who lives near by took him there yesterday. They weren't sure what's happened but think he's either caught it on something or has been attacked by a rat. They've cleaned it and given him some antibiotics to take for a week. [Good luck force feeding a tortoise!] They're keeping him in a dog crate to keep the wound clean and dry, but we're not sure what to do next. Sam keeps chickens and has streams running either side of her garden so it's possible it was a rat, her sister is reluctant to take him as up until a month ago she had chickens and worries she could have rats in her garden and only last week my neighbour told me he'd seen a rat in the field at the back of our bungalows. I've said I'll bring him back here but eventually one of them will need to take him as I'm unlikely to out live him! [A bit extreme but he could go to a tortoise rescue centre] At the moment we'll see how he recovers in his dog crate and discuss what happens next.
