Morning Michelle, yes I believe much of the country is struggling with heat and humidity. It is brutal for sure. Like you I'm not a fan of the heat, when much younger it didn't bother me a bit, but not today, now that I'm older it takes a toll and it doesn't take long. I feel for your son, like Ed having to work out in all kinds of weather conditions. Glad that Penny isn't bothered by the fireworks, Sadye is much bothered by them, but Molly doesn't like them at all. When she was just a puppy she ran off and it took us several hours to find her, so every year Kathy has to keep a close look out for her. I will praying for Piper. The last couple nights people have been setting off fireworks, but they have been far enough hasn't cause any anxiety for Sadye. I sure hope Piper didn't get sick again after her grooming appointment. You mentioned that Larry would drive you and you could hold her. I hope that help ease her anxiety a bit. We don't have plans for the 4th either. Ed will be doing a few things for Kathy while he has a little extra time this weekend. It was very unusual but his office gave them today off as well as the whole weekend. So he has a little time home. Enjoy your weekend. Sending prayers, love and hugs!

Good Morning Michelle, I hope you all are doing well. We have been under a heat dome all week. We have reached over 100 feels like temps all week, there have issues with the roads buckling and such. We have been staying inside to stay cool. Ed is still working in the heat I call and check on him, but he always says "no worries". It's got to be difficult on those individuals who do have to work out in these weather conditions. Temps will start to back off a bit starting tomorrow. Do you have plans for the 4th? We don't have any plans. I know the girls Sadye and Molly don't care for all the loud noises from the fireworks. I hate that for them. Good morning Michelle, you and I are in agreement in helping our girls live their best life. When Sadye and I are deep in discussion I tell her all the time I wish I had the money, place and time to help a lot of others, that she lives a pretty good life, when so many others just struggle to stay alive. That in and of itself is heart breaking. I know I don't what it takes to work at a shelter, or foster because I would get too attached. Yes I would love for Sadye to live to be 20 but only if she is healthy and pain free. I experience anticipatory grieving from time to time, just thinking about having to say goodbye. Enough of that getting emotional just thinking about it. We have a gloomy rainy ahead of us today, but next week it is going to be very hot, no rain in sight until late next week and that is a slim chance. I hope you have a great weekend. Michelle, that story about Carter was heart wrenching. I bet that was scary for all of you. My former next door neighbor had a Saint Bernard named Winston and he died from that. I saw Jim out in the yard and asked about him and he told me what happened. He was pretty upset he had another Saint that had the same issue and he also died. I think all dog breeds have some kind of  predisposed or genetic conditions that can be life threatening. I know I worry about Sadye all the time, she will be 11 in October and I know we are on the downhill slide of good days left with her. I do whatever I need to keep her as healthy as I can and live her best life as long as she can. I sure do appreciate all the prayers for her. We do worry and fret over our fur babies. I haven't heard from her vet so I imagine she concurred with the other vets evaluation and plan of action moving forward. So we can coast for 6 months. I hope you have a great weekend. Hello Michelle, thank you for keeping Sadye in your prayers. I haven't heard from her primary vet so she may not do anything different. I wasn't sure if dachshunds were prone to liver or kidney disease and unfortunately they are. I googled it to see, because I was curious. I had never been told that or even considered it. I will do more research about that I'm sure. I agree I think smaller dogs tend to be healthier. I'm thrilled you all had a great time celebrating Larry and then Fathers Day too. Nice that weather was nice and you were able to enjoy the celebrations. I'm sure the littles were excited to be spending time with you while your daughter and son in law have dinner to celebrate their anniversary. Isn't that truth. Little ones sure can wear you down quickly. What I wouldn't do to have some of their energy. I bet they enjoyed being at camp. How are the girls? How is their new enclosure working? Hello Michelle, Sadye went for her blood work. Have some good news and some concerning news. Her liver numbers have improved, Dr was pleased with that. Her kidney number have increased. He said there isn't much they can do for kidney disease except the diet prescription food, she is already on, so they will retest in 6 months to recheck. Her primary Dr was not there, so not sure if she will intervene and have different plans. So I was grateful for the good news but just concerns me about the kidneys and not many options for treatment. Thank you for the extra prayers. Thank you for the extra prayers for Sadye and her upcoming blood tests. It sounds like you all had a nice time at the movies...even though Layne slept through some of it. Bless her heart. Hello Michelle, oh that is great news that Layne is joining you to the movies. I tried to find your story that included the photos with the fence but I couldn't locate it. I'm glad to hear that it seems to be working for the girls. I bet they like that little bit of freedom, I can just see them romping about. We had a lovely day today, yesterday it was a different story, we had some pretty severe storms. Tornadoes around us, but none of us had any severe damage. We got more rain. I'm grateful for the rain, that means I don't have to water the gardens. Last week we had over 3" and yesterday we had a 1 1/2 ". So plenty of water. We are all doing well. I take Sadye back on Tuesday for her 6 month blood work. A few extra prayers wouldn't hurt if you can. I am praying her numbers are at least stable. If not Dr. Stacey wants to do an ultrasound.
