Hi Fern,
I can go out as much as I can manage. I did some gardening when it was warmer but for the left parts my garden helper comes end of March and than he comes regulary once a month to do the heavy work.
I do all my things as before. Playing bridge tournaments or twice a week, visiting my bridge class and having lunches and dinners in restaurants and my day with Anton and his grandparents here in Krefeld. I don’t do any shopping tours through a crowded city and had to stop my intense walking mostly each day for about 11/2 hours. No more resources for that. I manage short walks about 45 minutes. I can’t do many different things in one day, just one or two not more. Before I was busy all day and had a lot to do. This has ended. My resources became less and I must save them during the day.

Another couple of thoughts. Before doing to any of your computers, make sure to make a full image of your drive onto an external drive so that everything is backed up and you can restore it again if you change your mind. An image makes a copy of everything on the hard drive so you won't have to reinstall Windows or your programs and data! It's like taking a photograph of your hard drive at the time the image is created. Also, make sure you have a copy of your Windows installation key. If you bought the computer with Windows preinstalled then that key might be stored in the BIOS.  Also, Linux can read the Windows file system ( FAT32, exFAT and NTFS), but Windows cannot read the Linux ext4 format. So keep any files you back up on a Windows formatted device, just for safety. Anyway, the processes are relatively simple, but can be quite involved. That's why I am suggesting to talk to someone local who knows about this stuff 😊

I don't know where to start since I know nothing about your computers capabilties. First off, does it have an optical drive (CD/DVD)? If so, you can download an ISO file for a live version of many Linux versions and boot from that (assuming you can boot from the optical drive)  That my involve changing the boot device order in the BIOS. Anyway, if you can boot, the live disc will allow you to tinker with Linux without installing it. That's handy for deciding whether you will like Linux or not without changing anything on your computer. It's also possible to burn the ISO image to a USB stick and boot from that. Keep in mind that running Linux from a disc or USB stick will be a lot slower than if it were installed on your hard drive. Even should you decide to install Linux, I strongly advise making an image of your current hard drive first in case you choose to go back to Windows. There is free software to do that as well, but you'd still need a device to store the image on. May I ask make and model of your computer? Maybe that will give me some clues.
