I grew up in Stratford. There were swans on the river which was two blocks away. My mother would take us, as children, along the river to feed the swans. Those birds were...NASTY. If they started towards you...just get out of the way. There was black swans that we called Dutch swans...whether they were or not...who knows? But those ones got too snappy and territorial and they had to be removed from the river and given their own habitat at a reservoir.
And speaking of sows. My friend in high school married a pig farmer. She was a city girl like me. I went to visit her one time and there was a sow in one of the pens...that pig just hurled itself against the side of the pen.
