Hello- the walk was great! Although it's late for flowers, but it was a gorgeous day to be outside.
Found out the history about this new park - the owner, whose family goes back to the 1840's when they settled in MN - they owned around 500 acres and they wanted to sell it to the park system rather than to a developer.  It was sold 20 years ago and since then the park system has been working on restoring the native prairie.  One of the family was on our walk and it was fascinating to hear her stories about living there in the 50's and 60's, and she also showed us where their homestead was- the house is now gone as they moved out about 20 years ago.  There is a beautiful old barn and working windmill and there is also a homestead building from the 1860's but that is "under wraps" to keep it safe and intact until it can be restored. They literally built a metal building around it, so we couldn't see it at all.    Love to you, D and Bessie!!
