Yes, you will get the regular pot, and  if you are lucky you get one of the two limited edition regulat pots

Rainbow rocks are your reward for completing the underwater Rainbow of Fish. Very handy, especially for completing the topiaries.

You won't know which mushroom you'll need to make your vase  And they can't be RFH to make the vase, so you can start with any of them. Once you make the vase then you can either plant the mushroom that attracts the Phoenix or one higher. Do you have your rainbow rocks? They make your mushrooms RFH immediately

The mushroom needs to be fully grown, your process seems correct... The Phoenix and Unicorn vases need normal mushies, and the Baby vasa needs enchanted mushies. Did you get pop ups telling you how many items were correct? Seems odd that no combo worked

First go to the gold page in the wildlife section. There you’ll see which pots you can use to transform into the Phoenix pot.  You can click on ‘vase’ in the storage area to find them quicker.  Click on correct pot choose ‘ make vase’. 
Then it’s the usual find correct formula to transform vase.
