Hi Joanne,  i had a Christmas tree in my front garden for a few years, I got it from Wilkinsons in the after Christmas sale, it was very cheap & half dead, it survived & grew lovely, I put lights on it all the time, my neighbour loved it, sadly it died, was going to replace it but never did, hope yours lasts as long xx
