Thanksgiving isn't a pre-Christmas celebration. It is based on a celebration of the harvest and other blessings of the past year.  The modern celebration dates back to 1863 and is linked to  the Pilgrims' 1621 harvest festival. The theme of the holiday revolves around giving thanks  with most celebrations including a Thanksgiving Dinner with family and friends.

Our city is known for Beale Street, home of the Blues.  Elvis Presley built Graceland here and lived there throughout his adult life.  We have fabulous Pork Barbeque and excellent sauces. The Rendezvous in downtown Memphis is known around the world for its famous Pork Barbeque Ribs. These are a few facts about our neck of the woods.

Hi Debs,  In my part of the country, we have four Seasons. Right now, we are in late Fall. The trees are ablaze with yellows, reds and oranges and Winter is nipping at our heels.  Lately we have had beautiful sunny Fall days with temps in the 60s and 70s,( degrees Fahrenheit). Our city stretches out along the Mississippi River and Summers here are both hot and humid. We get flies, mosquitos and very loud Cicadas in the trees. It sounds like a bug concert on those hot August nights.   Spring is very nice with balmy weather and everything in bloom. Roughly, Fall is September thru November, Winter December through February and many times we have cold weather in the first week or two of March, but Spring is March through May with Summer being June through August, but we often have hot days in September so there is some bleed through of the Seasons.

Hi Debs, I don't know much about New Zealand. What is the weather like there in November?
