This procedure still works for Poinsettias planted from the Seed Shoppe.  Summarizing from previous posts:

"... choose what colour poinsettia you want by the ID number of the pot/vase  in your storage area.  If you roll your mouse over the 'Use' link of each vase in your storage area and then check the task bar at the bottom left of your screen, each vase has a unique number..."
Color:  Pot ID (Last Digit)
red    :   0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
pink   :   6, 7
white :   8,

There are ten different colours of balloon and the colour you get depends on the last digit of the ID number of the pot which you plant it in.

Pot ID number ends in 0 = green balloon
Pot ID number ends in 1 = pink balloon
Pot ID number ends in 2 = yellow balloon
Pot ID number ends in 3 = blue balloon
Pot ID number ends in 4 = red balloon
Pot ID number ends in 5 = white balloon
Pot ID number ends in 6 = silver balloon
Pot ID number ends in 7 = gold balloon
Pot ID number ends in 8 = teal balloon
Pot ID number ends in 9 = orange balloon
