And...if you don't get the eighth critter...then you can choose to go back a day...once the door closes on its own. Just click on the door and you will find that option.

I saw your post at the forums about closing your door. Once you spot or attract or a combination of the two...eight of a day's critters as show behind the door, you can click on the door and click on the close door option. Because you are on day one...you can open and close your door every time this happens until you are up to day sixteen(that is where you would have to stop today...tomorrow adds another day). It means that you can speed through the days that have easy critters like the  festive field mouse.
