It’s very odd. I’m sure this has happened with me also.
There were glitches with Alice so I’m sure there will be in Candy, although there is so much to remember you end up doubting yourself

Critter and bud shape:

If it's a Round, Square, Crescent: 
 
small left leaning bud ----- red, green or violet
small right leaning bud ---- orange or blue
fat bud  --------------------- yellow or indigo

If it's a Loop, Pentagon:

small left leaning bud ----- yellow or indigo
small right leaning bud --- red, green or violet
fat bud -------------------- orange or blue

If it's a Triangle, Heart:

small left leaning bud: ---- orange or blue
small right leaning bud:--- yellow or indigo
fat bud ------------------- red, green or violet

For Chocobugs - You are on the right track for this combination
L= Violet pentagon
M= pentagon ?colour?
R= triangle ?colour?

For Cherrymoles:
L= green Pentagon yes
M= violet or blue heart right shape, but you'll need to re-test the colours
R= pentagon

Thanks Jan, I hated that challenge more than any other, I’m still bitter by it 🥴Really happy I didn’t ditch all the plants before I was finish, was tempted to every single second 🙈, goes to show, I do have patience, I will never tell someone they should do them, my advice is Run 😂
