Harry, having heard Draco's idea devised a safe way to shield them against the incendio curse and made sure that both his son and Draco's were protected when multiple curses hit the inside and outside of the magical suitcase. Fire, as fierce as a dragon's breath, engulfed everything around their bubbles of protection, levitating in the air. Within minutes, it was over. The sand creatures had cristallized into glass. Not a living thing had survived except inside the magical bubbles.

Draco too had managed to reach his family inside Scamander's magical suitcase and he fought fiercely against the replica of his deceased wife, to let his father and son a few minutes respite.
Scorpius: "It's a sand creature, dad, I'm so sorry, it's my fault and..."
Draco: "sand? Then to disperse curse is only a temporary solution! Father? We must use "incendio" and shield ourselves behind a water wall!"
Lucius, exhausted, shook his head and both cursed the malevolent famished creature who froze under the extreme heat in a dark glass form.
"I'll tell the others, rest. I'll be back in a minute" said Draco.

The battle with the changeling creatures had reached a dangerous turn. The silver sand in the kobolds' caves had gathered any DNA thread and creatures were forming, looking like Harry or Draco, Fred, George or Ronald and came a moment where confusion was almost complete. Reinforcements had been called and Luna had managed to get inside the magical suitcase, looking for Rolf Scamander's her husband. There, in the devastated little kitchen a sand creature had just devoured every food available. There was no sign of Scamander, only a broken wand and a pair of dark glasses.

Lucius has demonstrated his grand son Scorpius how he could disperse the grains of silver sand which composed the body of the creature. Both grand-father and grand-son were now battling inside Rolf Scamander's suitcase, as new creatures popped in the diverse habitats, having taken the appearance of the fantastic animals kept there.
"What are these things?" asked Scorpius, out of breath.
"Some sort of polymorphs, somehow they use the sand and some DNA to form a body, replied Lucius, rather out of breath. They just can't maintain it long, they need new DNA to survive, preferable flesh and blood. CAREFUL!" He sent a curse directly to a half formed creature. "It seems they have devoured almost every animal in that effing suitcase!"

Draco had used a small device to find his way into the kobolds' world and Harry, -who was an auror now- suspected it wasn't too legal. "What's this?"
Draco showed the little screen. "Merely a muggle phone, just a bit altered to track my family. Don't look at me like that, it functions only when they're in danger. You know our past, there are still people who resent us leaving the Dark Lord in the final battle and who'd want nothing more than to deal with us. Oh!"
On the screen, two dots had appeared.
"My dad and my son are together. Quick! This way!"

Then, to Scorpius' dismay, the creature resembling his mother turned to him its figures turning back into silver sand again. "No!" screamed young Malfoy "Mother! Come back!".

"Back off!" a commanding voice ordered him and Scorpius, despite his distress, recognized his grand-father's at once and like an automat, he obeyed. How did Lucius had known, Scorpius didn't know, he didn't care, mesmerized by the creature who oscillated now between flesh and sand, deteriorating by the minute.
"She's not your mother, Scorpius, don't let it touch you, she craves life now, if she feeds on you, you shall die. Back off... slowly..." said Lucius, his wand ready to cast a spell.

But the niffler scared by Scorpius sudden move had opened the golden pendant containing some hair of Malfoy's deceased mother. A silver blonde lock of hair escaped and was suspended in the air for a few second before landing on some sand. "No!" cried Scorpius "Stupid niffler, it was all that I had left of her hair before the cancer treatment..." but he didn't have time to finish his sentence.
As soon as the lock of hair touched the sand, the body of a young woman began to form and within minutes, Scorpius recognized her.
"Mama!"

Inside the magical suitcase, Scorpius who was sleeping soundly after the delicious dinner Rolf Scamander had served him was dreaming of the fabulous spheres Dobby had spoke about in the Hog's Head Tavern. They were floating and bouncing about like gigantic bubble gums and he was wondering what was so precious about them that Dobby and Aberforth coveted them with such passion.
Little paws, thieving little paws climbed on Scorpius and attempted to rob him of his golden necklace. Scorpius woke up: "Leave that, you rascal! It's my mom's!"
