Hi Sue, yes my Mum was a good  teacher though that was for a couple of reasons l guess. We were a large family so economy was essential . We older ones were born just after the war so rationing was still in place a bit. My Nan was loving but clueless with child rearing as such, but kept a spotless home. So my mum learned from her and some from schooling. I am so sorry to hear of your childhood, l cant imagine how hard that must have been. I worked in and around children for years as it meant l could in some jobs take mine with me. I worked with young adults too mentoring. Loved both types of work even though at times heart breaking. Training helped enormously and counselling was available when or if needed. Have a good day Hun, hugs xxx
