Hi Cath, how are you? well the first shift at PO was a debacle. I arrived at 2 am, there were no cars in the parking lot, I knocked but no answer, their phone system does not have an opportunity to leave a voicemail and at night it's just an automatic message, it doesn't actually ring in the building. I waited around for 30 minutes and then went home; I left a note on the door- about 5 am I fell asleep and of course then they called and I didn't hear the phone. But today I was able to work. Looks like it will be 2 am - 8 am 6 days a week, I have a door code now so I can get in. I am really out of shape! After 6 hours of scanning packages, lifting packages, cutting plastic wrap off pallets of packages and putting the packages into the correct bins, I was exhausted. I came home, laid down for a nap about 11:30 am and slept til 5 pm! I'm sure it will get easier as it goes along. I live in a fairly s mall town (27,000 people, not like Minneapolis) and it's just a branch post office, that serves my town only. I was foolishly thinking, how many packages can there be? Well, I lost count when it went over 4,000 - and everyone is saying, just wait a couple of weeks when the Dec rush hits.
WOW!!!! About 2/3 of the packages were Amazon. Since I spent a little time driving for Amazon (in my own car) and now at the post office, I am seeing what a huge grip Amazon has on everything. Anyway, I'm off to bed and I hope you have a good day tomorrow- hugs & love
