Since there was no Alan I managed to go out a bit earlier to get a few things from the store. I stopped to have a chat with someone I knew and promptly forgot the milk. I do have some but it will be out of date in 3 days I'll need to get some more soon.

I've done a bit more to the puzzle, it's coming along nicely. It's surprisingly difficult which I'm enjoying. Thanks again, hugs   xxx

In the news today they were saying that 2700 people have died in the last 2 months because of the heat and like you have we have wildfires in several places. If this is going to be the norm we're going to have to change the way we live, like having air conditioners in our houses. Not many people even have ceiling fans, they've not been needed in the past.

Like Nick I have a gas weed burner but have to admit I've only used it once. The weeds were gone but I smelt like a bonfire, it put me off doing it again. 

I spoke with Kath, Daryn's 'friend', I'd taken in a parcel for her and gave Ted her dog a treat so we're now the best of friends. She's a nice woman, I still don't know why they don't just live together. They've been next door for almost 3 weeks, it used to be a week here and a week at hers, maybe it will be a month here and a month at hers, watch this space.

Hi Janet, it's definitely cooler today 71 with the wind chill feeling like 67 and the humidity 70%. You might not believe it but no Alan. He phoned this morning just before 10 to say he wouldn't be coming as he'd had a fall. Saturday he'd been to an open air concert at Burley House and on his way back to the car carrying 3 foldaway chairs, picnic box and various other stuff he'd turned to speak to his sister in law and as he turned back twisted his ankle and fell on all the stuff. He's badly bruised his ribs, arm and shoulder and won't be working for a least a week, probably 2. I spoke to Sue who he also visits, to cut her grass, and as she said, the grass is not growing and she was wondering what else he could do. I told her I'd hope he would creosote my shed as I only have a small bed to weed. I suppose if he was going to stop work for a week or 2 this was the best time to do it.
