Snape emited a ratler loud grumbling noise and Neville closed his mouth quickly. He had been terrified of the potions master for so long that he was still nervous around him. Mastering all his courage he finished to express his idea.
"if I am right, those pods would need to be exposed to the Sun and water too, I think they've been stored here and they're in a dormant state here."

Severus Snape had spent months trying to figure out the spheres found in the kobolds' mines. At first, he had worked alone, tried every curses and enchantments he knew (and he knew a vast variety of them). It hadn't given any fruit, the spheres remained unchanged and his frustration grew.
Now he had conceided that he needed help and he had welcomed the few wizards and witches who were interested in solving the mystery.
