Hello Ed, I won't be seeing Mum this weekend as I have a lot to do to prepare the house for Arja's visit. Bt the way Arja's name sounds like 'Arsha.'  It is an unusual name and the only other one I know is the one that Arja was named after. When I was married to David we lived in Camberwell and one of our neighbours was Debra Byrne an Australian singer. Debra's oldest daughter was Arja. Sarah and Arja became great friends as did Debra and myself. Her other daughter was on the spectrum and would only allow me to brush her hair. Funny story... one morning I woke, opened my eyes and there was Debra standing next to my bed with a brush and Lauren. It seemed that they had an early appt. that morning and Shannon must have let them in. Debra and I often enjoyed a glass of wine together and one day when I was at her house she played a Tony Bennet record and we both started dancing. The Debra said, "Hold on a minute." Popped into her bedroom and came back wearing a beautiful gown / stage costume and holding another one out for me to put on. I did so immediately. Then she gifted it to me. I still have it! Now back to my house work. Enjoy your day.

Morning splash--It is another nice bright start to the day, although it really cooled off at night and is only climbed to9 so far. It really sounds like your whole life is going upside down and your old routine is out the window. But long as you can keep things calm until more is figured out I guess it will be alright. Too bad you have to miss the BBQ as you really like them and it would be a chance of a meal without having to cook it. I guess I will spend a quiet day as every one is busy it seems.but thats good because my stomach is upset(either something I ate or all the  chaos at the beginning of the week.  I hope you can have a good day and the sun keeps shining.

Hello Ed, Arja has just told me that they will be arriving late Thursday! So I have to get my act together preparing the house. She also told me that the children do not know about their visit to me and doesn't plan telling them until they work it out in the car! It seems that both Chace and Bailee have been asking to come and visit me! Now I will go off to bed and try and rethink  my week, or perhaps just to watch something on Netflix? Enjoy your day!

Hello Ed, you asked about my Mum in an earlier post. I phoned her today. She seems to be ok? We never know with Mum as she is not always open about how she feels. "I'm fine." is her usual answer. On the up side she was planning to walk to the letter boxes a street away and enjoy the sunshine. I have been busy preparing the back bedroom for Arja and her family's visit next weekend. Storing away my various art materials and bringing out my knitting wool as Great Grandson Chace hopefully will want to continue learning. Tomorrow I plan to clean up my small Library. It leads into the end bedroom. Still unsure about the Doll's House. I guess that I will put it in the garage / shed prior to their visit and then keep thinking about it. Haha I think that I am more attached to it than the Grandchildren are. Now it is time for dinner and it will be a Chicken Kiev frozen meal. Before I go, I am now thinking about the letters 'kn' as in knight. Haha you started this with your question about 'h' in whipping. And then I just spotted 'ou' in your! Talk about going down a rabbit hole. Well I am enjoying it. I hope that yOU are as well. HUGS!

Hello ED, TY for the Yellow Wagtail. History of the English Language Lesson No. 3. 'ght' As in words like flight, night, and sight etc., represents a gutteral like in loch, used in old English. During the Great Vowel Shift (14th - 17th. centuries ), when pronunciations changed. The spelling remains as a fossilized record of the original.
Re. Kites, I have several and the children enjoy taking them to the beach to fly them. I often see kites being flown as I drive along the coast.  XXX
