I do the same.  While I'm knitting I watch mindless, often funny, shows just to keep my mind off the horror that has become life.  I do try to stay informed, so I'm not oblivious, but still one has to stay sane.  That is why you will rarely see me address anything negative here. 
Well, I had finished the toe & was about to start on the heel when I realized I had made a huge structural error so I spent the rest of the day ripping the sock up.  Will start again tomorrow.  Suffice it to say, today it was not my happy place.  Good night, Caroline xoxo
