Hello Helen, looks like your topiary trail is moving along nicely.  I’m just getting back into the routine after the Scotland trip (we’ve been home three days).  Really enjoyed it, lovely part of Scotland and mostly had dry weather (and some sun).  Favourite was Dumfries House and garden and the stay in the lodge - I want to go back.  Also made it to Wigtown, although I didn’t buy any books but had a good rummage in a lot of shops.  We climbed to the top of the lighthouse at Mull of Galloway (115 steps including two ladders).  We joined the NT for Scotland, which is valid in all the UK (and cheaper), saw a mix of castles and gardens at Threave, Castle Kennedy, Glenwhan (favourite after Dumfries), Culzean and Logan.  Visited Dundrennan and Sweetheart Abbeys, and walked round the Crawick Multiverse, which was more enjoyable than I expected (warm sunny day) and some great views from the highest hill.  We also got held up by the blade of a wind turbine behind transported along the road.  They are huge, and are moved at snail’s pace, still we got past it eventually.  Dumfries House do candlelight tours at Christmas, so I might have to go back sometime for that :)
