Hello Pat, I am home again after visiting Mum. Amazingly I did not get lost although I was somewhat stressed amtowards the end of the hour long drive. When I arrived I couldn't find a parking space close enough to the entrance so parked in a wheelchair access space. Entered and immediately told the recptionist where I parked and told I didn't have a permit. Then ahowed her my walking stick that she had clearly seen me using as I approached. I only use it when I don't know how far I have to walk, or if steps are involved. "No problems!" She sweetly told me. Then she showed me how to sign in and checked my temperature digitally. Once inside she told me that she would take me to Mum's room and cautioned that it was a long walk. She was happy to walk slowly with me and then we spotted Mum in the dining room chatting. "Your Mum will show you to her room." And she did. It is a lovely room with an ensuite. Whilst I was there Mum had to do a memory test and my pohone told me that I had to get up and walk again so I wandered further along the corridor and came upon a small lounge with a large aviary with 2 birds inside chirping away happily. Back in Mum's room and she was heading to the toilet so I walked outside again and was amused that her neighbour across from her had a sign that there was a cat inside the room, with photo of the cat, and alerting workers and visitors to be careful. As I was standing there smiling at the sign a worker came past and stopped to chat. She told me that residents can have a pet as long as they are capable of looking after them. I asked, "What about the the litter?" And she smiled and answered, "That is the most important part." When I returned to Mum I told her about the birds and where to find them. Then told her about her neighbour opposite having a cat. The first question Mum had was "How do they deal with the litter?" I didn't know the answer. Mum is loving it there and after I left she was going to have a manicure. 'Pampering Day.' She has also enjoyed a Bingo afternoon and went to the Gym this morning. Happily I found my way back home without getting lost. Enjoy your day.
