Hello Mary,
Small town life .... yes for us the closest half decent shop is an hours drive and then it isn't so great. For good large selection shops is is about a 2/3 hour drive. i miss the shops but i do not miss the crime.
we have petty crime here in the little town, but nothing major like in Cape Town or the surrounding areas. You read almost daily of a murder or hi-jacking or person gone "missing". It's a problem for our younger generation because of course there are no jobs in little towns.
Anyways i don't talk politics ...... but shopping is a pain now. Used to love going to the shops, but these days unless i can order online, it seldom happens.
