Christmas Memories.
It was only for a moment
That i shut my eyes and dozed,
But, oh, how much went through my mind
In the time my eyes were closed.
I had drunk my golden nectar-
Well, a nice hot cup of tea-
And watched the flickering firelight's gleam
On the sparkling Christmas tree.
I remembered my great childhood,
Holly bunches in the hall,
Our bulging stockings on the bed,
Oh, the magic of it all.
Singing carols, presents, turkey;
Special treats we had for tea;
Our big parties on Boxing Day
With our friends and family.
Then i smiled at my nostalgia,
Thanking God for every day,
For though childhood has come and gone,
Memories are here to stay.
