Velvet of the Night
Cloaked in the velvet of the night,
With moonbeams shining bright,
Little creatures rub their eyes,
And look up into darkened skies.
Badgers forage in the lane,
And dormice nibble ears of grain,
Owls embark on mystic flight,
As bats dissolve into the night,
In woodlands nightingales will sing,
And peace the velvet night will bring...
