PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS THREAD TO POST FEEDBACK OR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FAIRYTALES. I DO NOT WORK FOR FAIRYLAND SUPPORT AND THE DEVELOPERS WILL NOT SEE YOUR POSTS HERE. THIS IS INTENDED TO BE A HELP THREAD FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND THE JACK AND THE BEANSTALK TASK, IF YOU HAVE ANY FEEDBACK OR COMPLAINTS, PLEASE USE THE FEEDBACK PART OF THE FORUMS.
Please take the time to read this page before you ask a question on this thread. You may find your question is already answered here.
I am going to assume that, since this is the fifth Fairytale, people setting out to complete it will already have a grasp of the basics, so this thread will try to address any differences between this Fairytale and the previous ones. But to briefly recap, in order to attract Viridia the Garden Fairy, you will first need a toadstool in your garden planted in one of the rainbow or gold Fairytale pots which you can find in the Pot Shop. Once the toadstool has a bubble on the top, you can put out Wild Berries for the fairy.
WHICH POTS DO I NEED TO USE TO GET WHICH HARVESTED ITEM?
The rainbow pot will give you grass to attract the cow, the gold pot will give you treasure to attract Jack and the Giant.
DOES IT MATTER WHAT FOOD I USE?
The type of food you put out for the fairy (regular, organic or superfood) determines the amount of harvested materials you get to attract the Cow, Jack, and the Giant. The number of feedings of grass or treasure will be the same as the number of feedings on the berries you used (5 for regular or organic, 10 for double regular or double organic, 15 for superfood).
HOW TO SET UP FOR THIS FAIRYTALE
You will need to harvest the materials for this Fairytale in the correct order. If you harvest the treasure before you harvest the grass, you won't be able to attract either Jack or the Giant, because they need a fully grown Beanstalk before they can be spotted in your garden.
Since the Cow is the first thing you need to attract, you will need to harvest the grass first. The fairy harvests the toadstool furthest to the left first, so if you have both toadstools ready at the same time you will need to make sure you have the toadtool with the grass (rainbow pot) to the left of the other one. You will then need to attract the fairy to harvest the grass, using Wild Berries. Leave one plate empty for the fairy to harvest the grass onto. The grass will attract the Cow.
Once you have grass on your plate, leave out an empty Beanstalk pot (barrel with gold band around). The fifth Cow (and every multiple of five after that) will plant some Magic Beans into the barrel, and this will produce the beanstalk. You may want to let the cow finish the grass before you empty the plate ready for the treasure, in which case don't dust the beanstalk until you're ready to attract Jack.
Once the beanstalk is fully grown, you will need to attract the fairy with berries again to harvest the treasure (you may still have some left on the original plate). The other plate needs to be empty to receive the treasure. You will continue to attract Jack and the Giant as long as there is treasure on the plate AND you have a fully grown Beanstalk.
GOLDEN HENS
For every tenth Jack spotted in your garden, you will attract one Golden Hen. It is possible to get twin Hens, but you will still only get one Hen for each Jack. If you have twin Hens when you have attracted ten Jacks, for example, you would then not be able to attract a Hen when you reach twenty Jacks because the numbers of Hens to Jacks would be equal - 20 Jacks = 2 Hens. The only time when twin Hens would be beneficial would be if you get them after you have attracted 40 Jacks to your garden - that would allow you to have 5 Hens for 40 Jacks. If you were to attract more Jacks, though, you would not get another Hen once you reached 50 Jacks because the numbers would again be equal.
DETERRING PESTS
You can deter some of the Giants by using a fully grown Supershroom. Magpies and Pairs of Magpies will also take the treasure. You can deter single Magpies with a fully grown or ready to harvest Nightrose herb (one herb is 100% deterrent) but you cannot deter the Pairs of Magpies.
WHICH SEEDS DO THE CHARACTERS DROP?
The first time you spot Viridia the Garden Fairy in another garden, she will drop a Fairytale Seed. After that, every tenth time you spot her, she will drop a Forest Amber seed.
Every tenth Giant, every fifth Jack and every second Golden Hen you spot in other gardens will drop a Fairytale seed.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR UNLOCKING THE NEXT SET OF POTS?
You need five Golden Hens spotted in your garden. You can always see the requirements for your level by going to the pot shop, clicking the link for the next Fairytale, and then clicking the blue Quest link on the left hand side.
