Red Butterpillaflora....what do they do?

As the name suggests, the Butterpillaflora plants are favourites of Fairyland's caterpillars and butterflies!

Each seed must be unlocked in turn by completing the tasks shown.

Butterpillaflora plants cannot be sprinkled with Diamond Dust or Fruiting Dust to speed up their growth - they must be grown naturally. They all take exactly 3 minutes to first 'sprout'.

For full details of how to attract butterflies and caterpillars, please see the 'Butterflies' section in the Wildlife Guide.

Fairyland is home to many beautiful mystical butterflies. Each butterfly starts out life as a cute little caterpillar, and your task is to use your gardening and wildlife spotting skills to help those caterpillars become beautiful butterflies!

Here's how:

- To become a butterfly, a caterpillar must first form its chrysalis on a plant in your Garden, inside which nature works her magic and the transition to butterfly takes place.
- Each type of caterpillar only forms its chrysalis on one specific type of Butterpillaflora plant, which are available in the Seed Shoppe. So before you go looking for a caterpillar, you must ensure that you are growing the correct Butterpillaflora plant in your own Garden, and that is at the correct growth stage (it must have sprouted, i.e. be at a green stage of growth, but must not yet be flowering.)
- If you then spot a caterpillar in another Garden, it will head straight to your Garden and form its chrysalis on that plant (assuming it is the correct Butterpillaflora plant for that caterpillar type, and it is not yet flowering.)
- You then need to nurture the plant to fully grown (i.e. wait until it flowers.) You cannot sprinkle Fairy Dust on Butterpillaflora plants - they must be grown naturally, however they bloom in just a few hours rather than days.
- As soon as the plant flowers, the butterfly will be released from the chrysalis and will flutter away into the distance, leaving a sparkling flower behind!
- You must keep that same sparkling flower in your Garden, and some time later (assuming you have the correct food out) the butterfly will return to your Garden and flutter around between the flowers - this means she will be feeding there within 30 minutes!
- The butterfly will keep returning until either she is spotted feeding, or the flower becomes Ready for Harvest, whichever happens first. So don't worry if she is missed the first time she visits - she will be back and you should get plenty of chances to have her spotted!
- After the butterfly has been spotted, she will not return again and the flower will stop sparkling to show that it is no longer attracting a butterfly. To get your next butterfly visit, you will need to repeat the process by spotting another caterpillar and nurturing it in your Garden (although in some rare and lucky cases, a butterfly may decide to feed twice in your Garden :)
- You can only nurture one chrysalis in your Garden at any one time. But as soon as the flower blooms and the butterfly is released, you can immediately begin trying for another one (you don't need to wait until the butterfly has been spotted, only until it has been released from its chrysalis.)
- For information about the tasks you need to complete to unlock each seed for attracting butterflies/caterpillars, please see the information in the Seed Shoppe.

Additional tip: Like the rainforest wildlife and the hummingbirds, the first listed flower for each caterpillar is its favourite. This is a different flower for each caterpillar, so you can increase the overall attraction power for a certain caterpillar by planting multiple of its favourite flower (the exception being the Wriggly Red, which is only attracted by the Supershroom, of which you can only have one.)

Good luck and above all, have fun!
