How do you attract an orangutan when there are so many other critters that eat the same food. There's only 1 spot left for a deterrent since you need so many flowers for the orangutan. Is it a waiting game as far as attracting an orangutan?

I usually used the setup for orangutans like described in the wildlife guide:
Flowering 'Enchanted Forest Amethyst'
Flowering 'Forest Amethyst'
Flowering 'Forest Sapphire'
Flowering 'Forest Sunlight'
Flowering 'Forest Ruby'

Then I usually use at least one herb, or sometimes even two herbs to deter all the other rainforest wildlife.

Unfortunately,  it is a waiting game, as you need 1 deterrent for each  jewel,  so its impossible.  I would use the Thornbloom Herb  at least for the deterrent.

I don't believe you need 1 herb per Jewel. I just checked the setup in "The Wildlife Calculator" site. 2 Thornbloom herbs are enough to eliminate all the other animals apart from WRC.

So 1 Enchanted Jewel, 4 regular Jewels, 2 herbs, 1 Shroom & 1 plate of food.

Yes, two are enough, unless you're using more than one Forest Ruby - which isn't the case for Patricia.

But she is using 2 Enchanted Amethysts and 2 SF plates. So she has no room for any deterrents. 1 herb (Thornbloom) would still be better that 0 herbs. Right now she is overrun with the other animals.
