Is it right that I can secure that the violet egg will become a violet chick if I dump the yellow egg when it starts to crack?

No.  You need an indigo egg to go with the violet one.  Everytime the indigo egg wobbles, dump the food so the chick can't visit.  When the violet egg wobbles, you know it will be a violet chick.

Been trying for a few weeks - can someone check If I have the right setup and plan:

I have a violet and indigo egg and have to wait until the violet egg wobbles because then I will get a violet baby chick.

This can take a while because quite often the indigo egg wobbles first and then I have to discard the food and get new birdmix.

There's no way to tell, Pamela.  Both are attracted to your garden, so it's just random which shows first.

Usually chocolate bunnies come first because they are average.
Dark chocolate bunnies usually come later because they are defined as 'very rare'.
