Am I right in thinking that I cannot get a pattern on my egg unless I spot a Seahorse in my garden? I spotted one in another garden but I did not get a pattern on my egg. This is my first time growing an egg, I never got further than the basic plant before. I got a bit excited that I got the marbelling! Thank you!

You are correct. You need to set up to go underwater to get a seahorse to drop the pattern.

Just another little bit of a question, how can you attract a seahorse to your garden if it is not under water?

You can't, though if it was programmed into the table while underwater, and the underwater toadstool became rfh (and back to dry land), the seahorse still comes... like sneaky pests programmed in before a supershroom is fully grown.
