Since you have never done this before, you need at least at the leftmost position the Diamond card. If you have Diamond cards, then you can use Comfit as food and hopefully Dinah will visit.
Dinah will come whem and the leftmost card is the correct suit, but too high and would have to be lower to attract the special wildlife.

Wait until something is spotted, either Dinah or "helpers".  Keep track of what is spotted in the left, middle and right position (I made an Excel Spreadsheet to keep track).  Move cards one position and wait for something to be spotted, then again till each card has attracted something in each position.  Don't change cards until you know it is too high or too low in each position.

Yes, you need the diamond suit for the type of food you're using. But you need 2 more cards because you have to have 3 cards to attract anything other than card gardeners . And then when you have 3 cards in place and the diamondsuit all the way to the left, you will attract Dinah if that card is too high.

It took me a while to understand what was going on when I first started Alice, but what was really helpful advice, was to look at each card as individuals.  Then use the specific helpers to understand whether specific cards are too high etc.  For me, that was when the penny dropped what I had to do.
