Starfish/octopus vases

Lesley and White Angel ~ SOUTH AUSTRALIA ~ FFU (♥‿♥) 12 hours, 31 minutes ago

I did bottom dwellers many years ago and now looking at doing the starfish/octopus vases, or rather have been putting off doing them for awhile now haha! I have 5 used rocks in storage. Just wanting a rough estimate for those that have done them, how many do you need please?
Also, and i hope i can explain myself properly here........i have been doing my vases where i do the spotting first then the attracting and have the 2 vases ready for attracting now. So i set up to get octopus which is the 2nd. critter down, then starfish which is last....so i need to do lobster first to get to do the octopus, is that right and then right through to get to starfish....how does that work when your vases don't contain all 7 of the critters, only 5 of the 7. What about the spawn you have, do you have to ditch that? This may sound silly but it's confused me as it isn't just straightforward bottom dwellers as such, is it...? I hope someone understands what i mean. I have it in my head but finding the words hard to say what i mean :) :)

I've seen a lot of people just use the violet coral and then you get a mix of bottom dwellers coming, no need to go all the way through them again, at least I'm hoping that is the case, not long finished them myself and there wouldn't be room for the vase with the starfish set up....

You definitely don't have to set up for each bottom dweller separately, it works fine using the violet coral to get most of the bottom dwellers.  Only one it doesn't attract is the shrimp, so you will need to set that up with indigo coral and then go back to violet coral again. Can't remember how many rocks I used, but you will get more anyway with the pondweed.

Oh, thank you for that, Megan :) With the endangered vases, i kept my vase in storage until an alert came along but if we need to do all the corals and can only have a plate of spawn then have no idea what we could remove to put the vase in :)

Thank you for that info. Marike, and that's great with the rocks then as was thinking i may need to work on getting some more but looks like i don't need to. Will just need to sit down and work on my frog nos. etc. and then just have to take the plunge haha! I am dreading them because i was so stressed out with BDs way back when as it is....
