It seemed to be that the herbs are no longer as effective now with the gold enchanted critters

You always need two herbs for the Rainforest/Endangered setups - that's always been the case.  It's listed as tip 2 on the left hand side of the Rainforest page in the Wildlife Guide.

Definitely need to have 2. You can keep your vase in storage then ditch one of the herbs when you get an alert. Make sure you're around though and ask that the alert is posted.

Tina, i put 2 out while my vase is in storage then when an alert comes, i remove a herb and bring out my vase. It's perfect :)
