I had a yellow wagtail egg due to hatch. It appeared via my birdbath, which I know sometimes can happen. I have no issue with that as I only needed one. However, what surprised me was that there was an alert first! I’ve never known an alert on a birdbath before.

Is this something new?

No. You have got the alert, because you had an egg in your nest and it started wobbling.
It hatched from the egg although it was spotted in the birdbath.

Thanks. I thought if the egg hatched via the birdbath, there would be no alert. Very strange to see it. I guess I probably should have left the hatched egg in situ as a twin might have followed on my platter, but hey! I’m happy enough with just the one as I don’t need anymore right now xx

It is very rare to get twins with the birdbath so I usually avoid to have an egg and the birdbath together, but at least you get some gold this way :)
I think the alert is triggered by the egg itself and it doesn't depend on the food (the birdbath counts as food in this case).
