Hello Ed, you asked about my Mum in an earlier post. I phoned her today. She seems to be ok? We never know with Mum as she is not always open about how she feels. "I'm fine." is her usual answer. On the up side she was planning to walk to the letter boxes a street away and enjoy the sunshine. I have been busy preparing the back bedroom for Arja and her family's visit next weekend. Storing away my various art materials and bringing out my knitting wool as Great Grandson Chace hopefully will want to continue learning. Tomorrow I plan to clean up my small Library. It leads into the end bedroom. Still unsure about the Doll's House. I guess that I will put it in the garage / shed prior to their visit and then keep thinking about it. Haha I think that I am more attached to it than the Grandchildren are. Now it is time for dinner and it will be a Chicken Kiev frozen meal. Before I go, I am now thinking about the letters 'kn' as in knight. Haha you started this with your question about 'h' in whipping. And then I just spotted 'ou' in your! Talk about going down a rabbit hole. Well I am enjoying it. I hope that yOU are as well. HUGS!

Hello ED, TY for the Yellow Wagtail. History of the English Language Lesson No. 3. 'ght' As in words like flight, night, and sight etc., represents a gutteral like in loch, used in old English. During the Great Vowel Shift (14th - 17th. centuries ), when pronunciations changed. The spelling remains as a fossilized record of the original.
Re. Kites, I have several and the children enjoy taking them to the beach to fly them. I often see kites being flown as I drive along the coast.  XXX

Good morning splash--It is a nice sunny, 11 degreee morning to start the day.I think with Sandra the natural thing is to blame someone for what is happening, your just the convenient target  Like so many things no one is at fault and there doesn't seem to be a right way to deal with things and no pill to put things right. But sounds like you have a doctor involved and tracey is close at hand so hopefully things will smooth out.I was catching up but then new day and we start all over, have to get the garbage and recycling down and hope the dumpster is emptied(sometimes they only seem to empty one) and then I will tackle the rest--eventually I might win the battle. Golf wasn't too bad but its not the big tournament so basicly you have the ones trying to gain points playing. Hope today goes well and do what you can and let someone else help.

Hello Ed, I am pleased that Tracey is taking the reins. Sad about Jason not responding. That must be heartbreaking for you! HUGS!

Hello ED, TY for the Lovebirds. I worked at the Oppie today. Not many donations due to the build going on nearby. It is a relief really as we can catch up. I did research the 'w' in wrong, write, wrap and wreck. It comes from Germanic and old Norse languages. The 'w' was heavily articulated. Around the 15th century the English language began to shift and speakers found the 'wr' combination difficult to pronounce so the 'w' was dropped. However when early printing presses were established in the 15th and 16th centuries, printers standardized the spellings based on historical roots rather than contempory speech. I found this fascinating! I hope that it lightens your day. Haha I will now have to research 'GHT'. Not this evening. I so find our English language fascinating.
