Happy Canada Day! I am no fan of fireworks either. I actually find them totally over-rated as I think if you have seen one you have seen them all. Plus they are just too noisy. NZ allows the public to let off fireworks at certain times of the year and I swear as I get older and deafer the fireworks have got louder.
I wish we had the heating and cooling you have. I dislike the heatpumps for winter heating and they don't heat the whole house unless the layout of the house allows the heat to be transferred to other rooms.  My house is old and somehow the heatpumps kick up cool air and swish it around my lounge room. I've tried every setting but it still happens. I do wish I had other options but I don't. But come summer and the heatpumps come airconditioner definitely do a good job of keeping my house very cool. But winter time is a bit of a miserable time at night in my old house.
