The old man's back is bent
his time here nearly spent
he looks back and tears flow
at the things  that he has seen
Wars, starvation, pestilence
are the things he now bequests
to a "babe" soon to be born
who as yet has no sense
of the power in his hand
that he shall hold
'Tis only man can change
of that there is no doubt
but man in his ignorance
does count the seconds down
to cheer to another year dead
The politicians won't change
their stance
for ''tis not they who will
be left broken and bowed
they decree the laws they
must uphold, although another
child cries, and another
person dies;
My wish for you and me
may we live in harmony
as the crowds cheer, and dance
in every corner of the world
you will hear;
have a happy, wealth
healthy New Year
so, let it be so I plead
and pray for each one
of us on New Year's Eve
and upon the New year too
this is my wish for you!
