Like you, when I think of all we did and with no adult supervision. I would go out for hours with my friends, across the fields and come home when I thought it was meal time. Is it more dangerous now or is it there was no social media and news wasn't immediate. I know Sam and Tessa are more relaxed about the older boys, now 13 and 16 but I was walking home from school at 5/6 just with my friends and I don't remember there being any parents watching us. Today not only do they not walk home it's a free for all with all the cars outside the schools and not just for the little ones. I remember when Anna, the twin's mum, was taken ill at school and I was with her Grandma, Sheila. The school phoned to ask Sheila to collect her and I drove. When she got there the school was locked and she had to wait outside, ring the bell and wait until Anna identified her. I suppose it's a sad sign of the times.
