good morning Judi. so sorry to hear about your other cat passing. that's sad. and that you may have liver issues. hope not. yes, it's hot every day here and heat advisories every day. ready for summer to go away. my cat had been in my son's closet for 3 or 4 days and wouldn't come out to eat or drink. I was so worried. my grandson looked in the closet and called her, and she came out! ha. she loves him. I got her to drink a lot of water, but I had to hold the bowl up to her. then she ate a little chicken. she seems ok, but has a big bald spot on her back close to her tail and I  have no idea why. it looks awful. well, you have a good day and stay inside and cool. hugs.
