I cooked beef stew with dumplings yesterday evening, and have lots of left-overs.  early afternoon we had a steady snowfall that was not predicted. and, it's -9C so I stayed inside. Happy New Year, Marguerite
  We got about 3 inches of snow total from Wed. morning to this morning. It was very cold this morning at 14F and now it's just 16F. But the sun was out & it was a beautiful day. The only time I went out was to walk to the mailbox to get the mail from yesterday. 
The only reason I have to work work until the end of next year is paying off the mortgage & a couple other bills. But I'm going to try my best to retire Dec. 30th next year.
It's been a very relaxing day. Tomorrow, I have a DR. appt. in the morning. But that's it. Laundry is all done today.
