Hope you had a good trip to Manchester, we keep meaning to visit the NT Sky Garden on the Castlefield Viaduct and I keep moving it down the list.  Whitby Abbey had a good exhibition in the House at the side, and a section devoted to Dracula ^v^, as was a section in the shop too.  We didn’t go into Whitby, we opted for Robin Hood’s Bay instead.

Hello Helen, back home and catching up on the real garden etc.  Lovely weather most of the holiday and very hot by the end.  Here are the places we managed to see; Ripon Cathedral and Studley Royal, Helmsley (lovely little market town), Rievaulx Abbey (my favourite of the trip) and Ampleforth Abbey (lots of Mouseman furniture here), Whitby Abbey, Robin Hood’s Bay and Pickering Castle (near our hotel), Beverley Minster and town.  We then had two visits to Hull, the first day we only saw the minster - a boat had caught fire in one of the docks and the smoke was covering the city centre - people were being advised to stay indoors etc. so we left and went to Burton Constable Hall instead.  Returned the day after and saw some of the city and then went to the aquarium (The Deep), which is well done - enjoyed that.  Apart from Hull, I’d happily go back to every place we went too, so it was a good trip.
