A curious turn of events there was
On a day when ale turned green
A human sight there never was
Or not that I’d ever seen

This brew affected the humans
Who loved its fine colour at best
They toasted their friends and their loved ones
And drank it with lip smacking zest

They dressed in all manner of tartan and green
Shamrocks sparkled and twinkled with lights
They danced and they ate and sang many a song
Until it was nearly first light

I must say that humans like fairies
Love their fun which the wee folk respect
And tipping a hat to St Patrick
Is a party we’ve come to expect

Now spring is for sure round the corner
Ostara is coming quite near
But just one more toast to St Patrick I’ll make
With my glass of pretty green beer
