I’ve used my birdbath a few times but suddenly I’m confused! The garden is underwater now but there’s no water in the bb. Will it fill when I bring the pond back to “dry land”? Strange how I don’t remember it being empty when underwater before.

There's no water in it because you haven't cleared the last lot of wildlife spotted from it yet. If the mermaid took the garden underwater while that was the case, that's why you didn't get water in it. You'd need to go back on dry land, clear the birdbath, then attract another mermaid to fill it.

You don't need to go back on land & plant a new mermaid toadstool. You can empty the birdbath anytime while UW & the next mermaid that is spotted will fill the birdbath.
