Hi Evelyn, yes boilers are expensive luckily that is the lanlords responsibility here. By laws have changed a lot and standards have to be met. We ourselves have installed lots of things ourselves, including the now new shower room. Most folk think our home is private because of all the improvements done over the last 40 years or so. I hear you regarding kids with them being busy, either delay in helping or not doing what was asked of them. I am extremely lucky to have the neighbours l have they have been an enormous help with jobs we cant tackle. Hubby had done the same as your hubby with both our boys and two of the girls homes. Our eldest boy does do a lot of our online ordering so thats very helpful. The youngest gets me meat at bargain prices and orders kitchen tools etc to help me manage better for when my arthritis plays up. So its not all bad. I do hope your lad does the fireplace for you soon . Have a lovely weekend xxx
