I completed the totem quest last spring and my understanding was the reward would be a variety of feeding tables to choose from . I do have a choice of 22 different tops and bottoms, compared to the gardens I visit with all types of bottoms , I can not figure out how to access more choices. Any one that can help I would appreciate it.

If you complete each quest at a certain level, you can unlock a certain number of table parts (bottom, middle and top).
As far as I can see, you have two quests not completed yet, one at level VII and one at level III. If you finish these quests, then you can unlock the last parts.

Level III is complete , the bear necessities in VII is not and probably never will be as I spent 3 months trying to ompleted the brown bear and just threw my hands up in despair, my storage has shelves filled with bee hives with 1 indigo or 1 violet never to be completely one or the other. So that’s definitely not going to happen , but still the selection of tops and bottoms is slim considering all the completed quests.

As far as I remember it is for every quest at every level  3 more top, 6 middles  and 1 bottom part.
Nowadays, you have the option to pause a quest, so I think that helps.
I would finish the bear quest in summer when the bee hives are available and more people are doing this quest.
The Hummingbird Happiness (Level VIII) is not completed yet so that can give you some additional parts.

VIII I completely  forgot about that one. It too will also have to wait,I was going to use it to build another hummingbird nest but I’m deep into topiary this year and as far as I know they aren’t included in the trim group.

No, the hummingbirds are not part of the tops.
I just counted the parts for you :-), so in total I have: 28 top, 54 middle and 10 bottom parts.
But completing of all these quests was never really a priority for me and I just completed them on the way.
