You have to fill the hive with honey, by attracting five bees. On its own, the hive will attract red bees.
Once your hive is full, you harvest it and it turns into a pot. You then plant a honeyblossom seed in it. The petals of the flower will be the same as the bees which filled it.
Only red bees come to an empty hive. So the flower will have all red petals. When it's fully grown it will attract red bees, and the occasional orange one. Leave out another empty pot, and let the bees fill it - when you harvest it and plant up in it again, the petals of the flower will be the same as the bees which filled the hive. The aim is to gradually make hives with more orange bees, until you have one which is made with all orange bees. When that is harvested and planted up, the flowers will all be orange and will attract orange bees, plus the occasional yellow one.
And you'll continue through the colours in the same way.
You may already have some hives/pots which were added to by orange bees, as you've attracted a couple to your garden already. If not, you'd start from scratch with a new hive filled will all red bees.
