Black Squirrel

and Flossy6 years, 9 months ago

For 4 weeks now I've been stuck on the "nuts" quest, waiting for a 2nd black squirrel to visit and be spotted. I know these are rare, and I have considered cancelling the quest and starting over but am stubbornly not wanting to be a quitter! :-D  I've advertised my garden a few times, had maybe less than 5 black squirrels visit but weren't spotted.  I'm sure noah wouldn't have had this much trouble filling the ark???!!!  Does anyone have any ideas on further improving my setup please? Much appreciated!

I would change the low plate to a high one. Maybe use a supershroom. Other than that, just wait. You've had them come so they will be back.

Thanks Dorothy. What difference does a Supershroom make?

You really dont need a supershroom for average critters like squirrels. With a shroom, instead of the odd duck or dragon, you'll get wrcs instead. Black squirrels come random, so I'm guessing your having some bad luck at the moment.

You are correct Marike, she asked for ideas so that was one.  A supershroom would cut out mice, mallards and myths that might come. A supershroom would only attract WRC's so it depends on what you would rather get other than your target critter.

... however, a supershroom with a rainbow buttapillaflora brings in lots of cattie-hunting visitors, and so less likely any black squirrels visiting will be missed ...

Thanks ladies, for your feedback and comments. Helen, you raise a good point indeed. I haven't run my garden this way at all, and always designed dedicated gardens for the critters I wanted to attract, but the game has certainly changed an awful lot, and a lot of my original friends don't play any longer (hence I get less visitors). So perhaps I do need to look at other ways of attracting the masses. Thank you for that.  Of course, that said, I'm not getting many BS in anyway, so am constantly filling up the platters after feeding GS. I wonder if I plant an Aviflora or two to deter the Greys, will that prevent the Blacks coming in too?

Yes, it would deter the black squirrels.  The black (and albino) squirrels are just variants of the grey squirrel and won't come if you aren't set up for greys.

It's just patience. You don't need a supershroom, just a good setup for grey squirrels and a lot of patience :)
